About Oil & Ember

My love for plants comes from my Mother's ingenuity. She was the gardener and cook of our family. Every herb and vegetable that she grew had a magical purpose in her kitchen.

As a family we preferred freshly grown vegetables and herbs from our garden in the summer months and the kitchen became the hub of our home. When she was cooking, I usually knew what was simmering just on scent alone. It was the spice!  Mint, oregano, cinnamon, nutmeg and garlic . Our pots and pans worked overtime. 

Gratefully, her love for home cooking became contagious and got me thinking not only about what I was putting on the table for my family, but what are we applying to our skin from day to day. This is what led me to explore the world of soap and other plant products for the past 14 years. 

As someone in the health field I understand about the importance of how the body works and how it should be nourished not only inside but outside. The skin is the largest organ in the body and since it is porous, it absorbs what you apply to it. 

My goal is to provide you with the best quality product, made with organic and naturally derived plant oils. All products are made in small batches. Soaps are made using the traditional cold process method and our salves are made from natural herbal infusions.
